As part of the PNRR project "ETIC: Einstein Telescope Infrastructure Consortium", the University of Perugia - Department of Physics and Geology, leads the design and construction of the CAOS laboratory (Centre for Applications on Gravitational Waves and Seismology ).
CHAOS will be there41042ad53247f54a3e573a8c87482365infrastructure in which the mechanical
suspensions for the main optics of the future third
generation European gravitational wave observatory, named Einstein Telescope (ET), will be studied and characterized on a 1:1 scale. ET's new interferometric detector will increase sensingbility and will extend to low frequencies the observation band of the current
Advanced Virgo Plus (AdVPlus) and Advanced LIGO detectors. A similar project, called
Cosmic Explorer, is led by the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC).
