Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The Advanced Search on ItalyTenders is designed for precision filtering across all Italian public procurement notices. Instead of browsing thousands of listings, you can combine multiple filters such as ITT Reference Number, Document Reference Number, Financier, Posting Date, Deadline, Purchaser Name, Status, and Keywords to narrow results to tenders that exactly match your business profile. This is especially useful for international bidders and specialized suppliers who need to track below-threshold MePA opportunities and ANAC-published contracts without sifting through irrelevant results.
The ITT Ref. No. (Invitation to Tender Reference Number) is the unique identifier assigned by ItalyTenders.com to each tender listing. If you already have a specific tender in mind — for example, from a daily alert email or a saved search - entering this number will retrieve that exact notice instantly. This field is particularly useful for procurement teams managing multiple opportunities who need to quickly locate a bando di gara they have already reviewed. If you do not have an ITT reference, you can search using keywords, CPV codes, or the purchasing authority name instead.
The Doc Ref. No. (Document Reference Number) corresponds to the official reference number assigned by the contracting authority (stazione appaltante) or the digital procurement platform (PAD). Italian tenders are often published with a CIG code (Codice Identificativo di Gara) or a determina a contrarre reference number. If you have received a tender document directly from a public administration or found a notice on ANAC's BDNCP, entering that reference number here will help you locate the corresponding listing on ItalyTenders. This field is essential for verification and cross-referencing official documents.
The Financier filter allows you to search for tenders funded by specific financing bodies, including EU funds, PNRR (Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza), regional development funds, and national ministry budgets. Many large Italian public tenders - especially in infrastructure, digitalization, and green energy - are financed through EU cohesion funds or PNRR allocations. Filtering by Financier is critical for suppliers who specialize in EU-funded projects and need to track procurement pipelines tied to specific funding programs. For example, entering PNRR will surface tenders related to Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The Posting Date From/To filters let you find tenders published within a specific date range, while the Deadline From/To filters show tenders whose submission deadlines fall within your selected period. Combining these two filters is a powerful way to manage your bid calendar. For example, you can set Posting Date From to 01-01-2026 and Deadline To to 31-03-2026 to see all tenders published since the start of the year that are still open for bidding. This prevents you from wasting time on expired notices and helps you prioritize upcoming deadlines.
The Purchaser Name field allows you to search for tenders issued by a specific contracting authority (stazione appaltante). You can enter the name of a ministry, region, municipality, hospital authority (ASL), university, or state-owned enterprise. The field supports comma-separated multiple values, so you can search for tenders from several authorities at once — for example, Regione Lombardia, Comune di Milano, Consip. This is invaluable for suppliers who have existing relationships with certain public bodies or want to track competitors' purchasing patterns. The Status dropdown (defaulting to "Active") lets you filter by open, awarded, or cancelled tenders.
The Keywords filter is the most flexible search tool. You can enter product names, service descriptions, CPV-related terms, or industry-specific terminology. For best results, use Italian keywords alongside English ones - for example, software gestionale or fornitura hardware. The "Search with exact keywords" checkbox allows you to perform a phrase match search. When checked, the system will only return tenders containing the exact phrase you entered, which is ideal for technical specifications or official tender titles. When unchecked, the search performs a broader term match, returning results that contain any of the entered keywords.
The Advanced Search is designed for layered filtering. For the most precise results, combine three or more filters. For example: (1) Set Status to Active, (2) Enter Lazio in Purchaser Name or select a region, (3) Enter CPV 72 or software in Keywords, and (4) Set Deadline From to today's date. This will return open IT tenders in the Lazio region with upcoming deadlines. You can also use Posting Date to exclude older notices and Financier to focus on EU-funded or PNRR tenders. The Reset button clears all fields, allowing you to start a new search strategy.
Yes. ItalyTenders aggregates notices from Consip (framework agreements and MePA marketplace), ANAC's Banca Dati Nazionale dei Contratti Pubblici (BDNCP), regional PAD platforms, and individual contracting authority transparency portals. The Purchaser Name field can be used to search for Consip or MePA specifically, while the Keywords field can target framework agreement categories. The Financier filter can identify PNRR-funded tenders, which are frequently published through Consip and MePA for digitalization and innovation projects.
If your search returns no results, try broadening your filters one at a time. Remove Keywords first to see if the issue is terminology - Italian tender titles often use official procurement language rather than commercial product names. Next, widen the Posting Date range or clear the Status filter to include awarded or cancelled notices. If you are searching for a specific CIG or Doc Ref. No. , verify the number against the ANAC BDNCP portal or the original tender document. You can also use the ITT Ref. No. if you received an alert from ItalyTenders.
