• Tenders are invited for Isru-Dm Payload Technology Developments Thales Alenia Space UK Ltd ”TAS UK” is currently the Prime Contractor for the European Space Agency (“Agency”) In-Situ Resource Utilisation Demonstration Mission (“ISRU-DM”) Phase B1 for an Oxygen (“O2”) Extraction Demonstration project (“the Project”). The Project relates to a payload concept that can be accommodated on future Lunar surface missions. The payload architecture is centered around the Metalysis FFC process for electrochemical reduction of lunar regolith into metallic power and oxygen in a molten salt bath. General information regarding the Agency-s ISRU-DM mission can be found here: https://exploration.esa.int/web/moon/-/60127-in-situ-resource-utilisation-demonstration-mission As part of TAS UK-s responsibilities, it is required to deliver critical technology breadboarding. The purpose of these activities is to perform a set of Subsystem technology developments to develop and test critical technologies of the ISRU-DM payload and demonstrate their critical function in relevant environment to TRL 5. The objective of this procurement is to select a single subcontractor to deliver breadboards for the following Subsystems; Pre-Processing Sub-System, Sample Handling Sub-System, Crucible & Process (Reactor). The scope of work will include design, manufacture and testing. The Subcontractor shall also be required to deliver an Integrated Breadboard, encompassing the above three Subsystems. The scope of work shall include design, manufacture and testing in a relevant environment. This procurement is being conducted by TAS UK in accordance with the procedure specified in the Best Practices for the selection of subcontractors by Prime in the frame of ESA major procurements ref. ESA/IPC(2012)65,rev.2. The Invitation to Tender (ITT) will be open to all economic operators registered and located in one of the European Exploration Envelope Programme (E3P) Participating States. The current list of the E3P Participating States is as follows; Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
