Description:
Tenders are invited for Ariel Radio Frequency SCOE (RF SCOE). Ariel, as the fourth medium-class mission (M4) in the ESA Cosmic Vision Plan, following Solar Orbiter (M1), Euclid (M2) and Plato (M3) is planned for launch in 2029. Its mission aims at determining the chemical composition and physical conditions of the atmosphere for a set of exoplanets and encompasses a duration for a first phase of 6 months for the transit up to the Halo orbit at L2 position, the cooldown and the commissioning, and an operational phase of 3.5 years. An extended mission lifetime of 2 years is also considered. In this framework, the objective of the present procurement is the selection of the contractor for the Ariel Radio Frequency (RF) SCOE in accordance with the principles of “ESA Best Practices for the Selection of Subcontractors by Prime Contractors in the frame of ESA-s Major Procurements” (reference ESA BEST PRACTICES IPC(2012)65,rev.2)ESA Best Practices. The scope of this procurement covers the design, development, testing and delivery of Ariel RF SCOE. The RF SCOE will be used for electrical and software integration as well as functional testing of the satellite X Band Transponder * Subcarrier and phase modulation of spacecraft telecommands for X band uplink * Demodulation and recovery of telemetry data from the X band downlink * Ranging signal transmission, recovery and measurement * Routing of telecommand / telemetry from / to the Telemetry and Telecommand Fronts End * Routing of I/F signals to/from the NDIU.
